The right bathroom tile design can turn a regular old bathroom into a spa-like retreat when you carry out your remodeling project; making a choice on a style isn’t always as straight forward as you may think with the ranges available today.

There are a variety of designs and options available that appeal to a number of differing tastes as well as range of budgets. The use of marble, especially Italian, natural stones and the traditional harlequin tile designs are the more common but some of the newer types with lots of colors are fast becoming favorites too.

If you don’t know what the harlequin bathroom tile looks like; imagine a white tile that has smaller black diamond shapes in a grid like pattern imprinted on them and you will have a good picture of the harlequin style. You will usually find these tiles are oblong instead of the more traditional square tile, and these days there are also many other colors to choose from.

My favorite creative idea is the black and white tile design, as the effect is pressed hard to match, and really ads improvement to the the look of a bathroom. A bathroom will look clean brite and shiny, and by choosing a chrome tub and shower faucet to go with this beautiful design, you will give the area a crisp, sparkeling aura which is just ideal for the bath area.

The effect this provides can make it look as though you have spent a fortune on your bathroom but chrome and other polished metal fixings can cause problems as they mark easily. This is something particularly relevant if you have young children, so may not be the best style for you.

I have to say that it is in the classic black on white style that I find the most appealing and timeless. When money isn’t an option there is always Italian marble as a choice for your bathroom tile design. This can also be used for surrounding areas in addition to the wall and floor, plus it comes in an enormous range of finishes.

Whilst tiles are intrinsically expensive there are ways to ensure you have a unique design that won’t cost a fortune; try using good but less expensive bathroom tiles as a base for your creation. As you will only be using a few of the expensive tiles to complement the other tiles you have chosen it doesn’t matter if you spend a little more on these because you will have created a great design for little cost.

This is the one area where getting a professional to carry out the tiling for you will be worthwhile and provide that special finish. You will undoubtedly save quite a sum of money if you carry out this part of your bathroom remodeling project yourself but it will invariably take considerably longer and will you be happy with the result?
