If you are in a place where you want to add value to your home, whether you are looking to sell it or just enjoy it more, you will find that you should look down! The basement is a place that a lot of people ignore unless it is flooding and often enough, they simply do not take advantage of the potential that it can give them. Take some time and really consider what your options are going to be when it comes improving your basement. There is a lot that you can do, all without calling in professionals at all.

When you are considering a basement home improvement project, you should think about waterproofing the whole basement. This is a lengthy project, however even an amateur can accomplish it with some commitment and determination. When you are considering a finished basement, one of the best ways to accomplish this task is to search out one of the many kits available that offer you a complete process from start to finish.

Another great basement project that you may want to consider is the flooring your basement. If you have just bare cement down there, even if it has been painted, you’ll find that there are plenty of improvements to be made. Of course you could just apply a fresh paint job or throw down a few rugs, but what about a new floor?

Depending upon the materials you choose to use, determines the time you spend on your DIY project. For instance, applying new self-adhesive tiles can be easy and something you can complete within a weekend. For example, choosing basic, self-adhesive tiles is very simple. Applying other types of tile is basic, easy and uncomplicated.

You may even consider staining your concrete flooring in the basement as it can offer you a stunning new appearance. With just a simple concrete floor, you can achieve a lovely polished look of stone. If you wish to achieve a shiny, lustrous faux marble floor that offers you a long lasting floor finish that is strong and durable, this is what you should do.

After finishing off your basement, you may want to use the area as an area to relax and hang out. By recreating your basement, you can use your basement to improve the social outlook of your home. You might consider making your basement a game room by adding a pool table and a bar.

The addition of a bar will add resale value to your home. You can create an appealing basement area when you add a bar or even a wet bar to the lower level of your home, if you desire.

Take the time to consider all your options and then work towards them to produce a warm inviting area, when you are considering how to improve your basement as a DIY home project. Keep in mind that you can use DIY basement projects to make improvements regardless of your level of experience.

What I learned about bathtubs

Clawfoot bathtubs are the original cast iron tub. They come in various styles. Including double slopped style. Slipper tub style, this is where one side of the Clawfoot tub is slopped for making it more comfortable to rest in. And classic roll rim where the rim of the tub is rolled down.

The Jacuzzi bathtub is a type of spa whirlpool bathtub. Jacuzzi became the name that most of the world now adopts due to Jacuzzi being the manufacturer that introduced the whirlpool bathtub to the USA in 1968. A Jacuzzi bathtub is a bathtub that adds air to water and shoots it through nozzles which can be directed towards various areas of the body to add to the relaxation process of bathing.

Remember hearing about or seeing pictures of tubs in the middle of a big room. Those are called pedestal or free standing tubs. These tubs were used by the rich back in 900 BC.

The corner tub allows a roomier feel for any master bedroom. It’s purpose is to maximize space

Elderly love the walk-in bathtubs. Often known as handicap bathtubs, these tubs provide handrails to assist the elderly or handicap. Typically they have a seat to make bathing more functional.

Baby bathtubs are just a much smaller version usually with a very shallow basin and a gentle slope. The slope of the baby bathtub is done to assist the parent or adult bathing the baby in keeping the baby’s head out of the water. They have many different types some that are placed in your own bathtub. Some are designed for a countertop next to a sink. And finally they have some that are designed to span the bathtub resting on the ledge of you tub making bathing your little one easier.
