There was a time when the bathroom wasn’t a place that required much decoration. These days as we take more time grooming ourselves before and after work, so why shouldn’t we indulge ourselves a little with a nicer bathroom?

There are some wonderful bathroom decorating ideas out their and although it may be a functioning room, that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be a pleasant place to be. Gone are the days when a bath or shower was a rushed affair; we all want to enjoy the experience so why not do this in a pleasant surrounding.

If nothing else, your creative bathroom decorating ideas will probably inspire and impress your friends and neighbors. There isn’t much point in spending thousands of dollars making other rooms pleasant to live in if you are going to leave your bathroom in a state of poor decoration.

If you are stuck for bathroom decorating ideas then why not use some ideas that you have used elsewhere in your home; and when you think about it, this makes perfect sense. So if you like the look of certain plants on small tables throughout the house then there is no reason why this same theme should not continue in the bathroom as well. You can also use it for magazines and books to give your restroom that special touch that really makes life a little better.

This can also work the other way around, if you have used certain decorating or furnishing ideas in your bathroom then why not extend some of those to other areas of your home? Tiles are a prime example of this type of reverse decoration as they can be used almost anywhere and are not restricted to just a few rooms where they are traditionally found.

Fortunately many of the white tile designs in kitchens are no longer popular so colorful and traditional tiles can be used in other areas of the home including the kitchen, with equal effect. Whilst it is the tiling aspect that tends to dominate kitchens and bathrooms, there are many other bathroom decorating ideas that can be used also.

If you look at something like a soap dish or tray for example; this is used constantly but very few people take any notice of them,as they are normally quite bland objects. Why not improve them? There are many articles in home decoration books and magazines illustrating how easy it is too make your own soap trays.

In fact, a number of magazines have illustrated how to make a soap tray or dish out of common clay. Decorations that does not cost alot is always popular so using pleasing prints or photos at strategic places can be effective without any effect on your bank balance. There are plenty of bathroom ideas out there to be found so there is no excuse in neglecting this undervalued room.

The right bathroom tile design can turn a regular old bathroom into a spa-like retreat when you carry out your remodeling project; making a choice on a style isn’t always as straight forward as you may think with the ranges available today.

There are a variety of designs and options available that appeal to a number of differing tastes as well as range of budgets. The use of marble, especially Italian, natural stones and the traditional harlequin tile designs are the more common but some of the newer types with lots of colors are fast becoming favorites too.

If you don’t know what the harlequin bathroom tile looks like; imagine a white tile that has smaller black diamond shapes in a grid like pattern imprinted on them and you will have a good picture of the harlequin style. You will usually find these tiles are oblong instead of the more traditional square tile, and these days there are also many other colors to choose from.

My favorite creative idea is the black and white tile design, as the effect is pressed hard to match, and really ads improvement to the the look of a bathroom. A bathroom will look clean brite and shiny, and by choosing a chrome tub and shower faucet to go with this beautiful design, you will give the area a crisp, sparkeling aura which is just ideal for the bath area.

The effect this provides can make it look as though you have spent a fortune on your bathroom but chrome and other polished metal fixings can cause problems as they mark easily. This is something particularly relevant if you have young children, so may not be the best style for you.

I have to say that it is in the classic black on white style that I find the most appealing and timeless. When money isn’t an option there is always Italian marble as a choice for your bathroom tile design. This can also be used for surrounding areas in addition to the wall and floor, plus it comes in an enormous range of finishes.

Whilst tiles are intrinsically expensive there are ways to ensure you have a unique design that won’t cost a fortune; try using good but less expensive bathroom tiles as a base for your creation. As you will only be using a few of the expensive tiles to complement the other tiles you have chosen it doesn’t matter if you spend a little more on these because you will have created a great design for little cost.

This is the one area where getting a professional to carry out the tiling for you will be worthwhile and provide that special finish. You will undoubtedly save quite a sum of money if you carry out this part of your bathroom remodeling project yourself but it will invariably take considerably longer and will you be happy with the result?
